Rings & Earrings

I'm really pleased with these hematite rings. They're made using elastic so the are really comfy. I've also added some earrings to my site to match.

Building on a small start

After a mega-shop for beads, crystals and findings I posted another small collection of bracelets made from Silver Plated Hematite. Exactly as it sounds; it's hematite plated in silver and it has proved popular so I'll be making some more. Look out for some rings next.

Starting very small

I'm just about up and running; my website is live, initial stock listed and I'm chuffed to bits with my progress. I've learnt how to buy a domain from one company and point it to my website hosted by another. I've created a logo based on symbols used on the memorial gates to the park in the village and I've even downloaded an accounts package to record sales and expenses. Lots still to learn - right up my street.

The idea is to start very small and use the site as a brochure. If things look promising i'll add the function to buy online but for now those arragements will be made by email.

My initial stock is made mostly from hematite. Hematite is heavier than it looks and gives a feeling of quality. Although a shiny-grey/steel colour on the outside, it is red on the inside and named after the Greek word for blood (some know it as "Bloodstone"). The birthstone for March it is considered by some to be a "stone for the mind" aiding focus and concentration, enhancing memory and original thought. Grey hematite is a mineral indicator of past water and although usually found in places such as the US and Brazil, it was discovered on Mars by the exploration rover suggesting the possibility of water on the planet.

Perhaps you would like to look at some more hematite bracelets

This weekend is an open day at a bead supplier and I can't wait to buy some new beads and elements. I have my eye on the silver plated hematite and some ideas for silver chain bracelets.

Watch this space.
